  • Salt Spray (Corrosion Testing)

Corrosion testing in IEC 61439 is part of testing of Strength of materials and parts.

Clause 8.1.2 of the Standard states that to ensure protection against corrosion, suitable materials or protective coatings to the exposed surface need to be used, taking account of the normal service conditions.

  • Mechanical Impact (IK)

Mechanical impact (IK) coding, or international mechanical protection, is the degree of protection an enclosure provides against harmful external mechanical impacts such as vandalism or accidental contact.Impact testing is performed against the requirements of IEC / EN 62262 Degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts (IK code).

  • SANS/IEC 61439

We all rely on our Heart and Lungs to perform their function. But, if they had been built and manufactured to an industrial standard, who would you rely on for advice and verification that they met it?
SANS/IEC 61439 is the standard series for Low Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear Assemblies.
At kA Testing Facility you can TRUST in the completeness of testing and the clarity of the certification.

  • Testing of busbar trunking

We now have facilities to perform temperature rise tests on vertical and horizontal busbar sections and tap off units.

We can handle the range of tests in accordance with IEC 61439 Part 6, including tests for loading and crushing, fire penetration and short circuit. We can also supply informative information in accordance with Annexes AA to EE.

  • Raised ambient temperature testing facilities

We have two chambers where we can accomodate customers testing in a raised ambient temperature for panels up to 6300A. Raised ambient tests are required by the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman amongst others.

  • Customer facilities

At kA Testing Facility, we encourage all our customers to come to the laboratory to witness the tests, in particular temperature rise.

We have observation rooms in our largest laboratory’s which include tea and coffee-making facilities, a refrigerator as well as wireless internet connection.
