Testing to IEC 62271

medium voltage testing equipment

IEC 62271 is the standard that applies to ac switchgear and controlgear designed for indoor and outdoor installation and for operation at service frequences up to and including 60Hz on systems having voltages above 1000V.

Whilst we are able to offer verification against most of the test requirements identified in this range of standards, we cannot perform the short circuit tests detailed. It is not uncommon for us to be asked to simply perform selected test against the standard to verify specific aspects of a product design.

However, where complete type tests are required against the standard, we would normally recommend that customers approach a separate laboratory who can conduct all these tests, or where agreed, have them quote separately for short circuit testing. If these tests are carried out at an ASTA Laboratory, then it is possible for us to co-ordinate with them to provide an overall ASTA Certificate. We would of course be pleased to put you in contact with a laboratory who who could provide a quotation for short circuit testing.
